Evernote Reflections
Deborah Husak

I followed the directions we were given in class and created several notebooks for my middle school, high school and our group unit plan. I have 14 notes and several shared notes in Evernote. I found that I did not use any of the notebooks except for the joint posting of our lesson plans for our unit. Even then, it was not possible to communicate or comment on each other’s posts.

I used tags for “forms”, “books”, “policies” and “field trip ideas”. For Evernote to be useful for keeping and using information, it would be good to keep using and expanding on the tags. I can see how it would be possible to keep track of other items such as links to web pages and videos and tag them to a topic that would be used in class such as; “genetics”, “evolution”, “ecology”, ect. It is possible that I will reconsider my current opinion as I contemplate using tags or using Evernote as a portal to my real computer.

I do not like that all the items are listed in a long column and that I am unable to see all of them at once. I find the lists very limiting. I like to see things as a whole and be able to organize them, yet still be able to see where they are in the big picture. At home, I like to use big calendars so I can see everything at once. I prefer to use my computer to store information because I can organize the topics in folders.

I also had a lot of difficulty using the iPad. I never learned how to use it properly. I find it very difficult to type on. My fingers are too big and I keep making mistakes because I miss the key I am trying to touch. My difficulties with the iPad may have contributed to my reluctance to use Evernote as well.
